AIDA FINDS CREATIVE SOLUTION TO MULTIPLE REQUIREMENTS WITH T.A.M. COMMUNICATIONS
When AIDA-America Corp. began looking at innovative ways to expose customers to new products and give them access to technical training, the mechanical press builder found a creative solution with T.A.M. Communications. “We were looking for a concept that would give us an alternative to the expense of exhibiting at trade shows yet offer customers the opportunity for technical training with AIDA product experts,” said Becky McCarty, AIDA’s Director of Marketing for the Western Hemisphere. “We knew if the offering was compelling enough, we’d also have a captive audience for new product introductions.
To help AIDA meet its objectives, T.A.M. designed and installed a new product showroom on the press builder’s manufacturing floor. Completed in 2006, AIDA coordinated the showroom unveiling with an educational symposium for customers and industry experts. T.A.M. provided technical support for the symposium and recorded each session. T.A.M. then edited the final video by adding critical Powerpoint slides to create and provide AIDA with a complete training library.
Based in Dayton, Ohio, AIDA-America is the North America Headquarters and manufacturing facility for AIDA-Engineering Ltd. AIDA also has manufacturing facilities in China, Southeast Asia and Europe and is one of the few press builders able to sustain and grow a global presence while manufacturing for and servicing local markets. AIDA’s in-depth equipment line-up, 30 to 4,000 tons, offers the flexibility and innovation features required to meet customer demands for different materials and advances in production equipment. One of the largest mechanical press builders in the world, the global AIDA network experienced a 43% growth in sales from 2002 to 2005 with year end results of over $500 million.
AIDA used its new showroom to feature the introduction and demonstration of a revolutionary new press to symposium attendees. The showroom gave visitors the feel and excitement of a trade booth yet created a more personalized environment for one-on-one demonstrations of AIDA’s press technology and interaction with its product experts. The showroom’s convenient location also made it easy for AIDA personnel to provide customers with a tour of AIDA’s entire manufacturing facility.
T.A.M’s installation included a 4500 Lumen Eike Projector, ETC Source Four and Source Four Jr. ellipsoidals, par cans, and LED pars. T.A.M. married truss and lighting installation with projection capabilities to provide an attractive combination of lighting and AIDA graphics as the showroom’s backdrop.
AIDA selected T.A.M. for the project because of its previous history of reliability. “AIDA has worked with T.A.M. for 10 years on a variety of projects to meet marketing and promotional requirements,” said McCarty. “T.A.M. takes the time to understand the product, the marketing and the customer. T.A.M. is a problem solver. In addition, the company coordinates the services
of other vendors when required, providing AIDA with the convenience of working with a single point of contact and one project manager.”
The product showroom is a permanent addition for AIDA-America and will be used to demonstrate presses for visiting customers. The showroom also provides a production atmosphere that allows customers to experience first hand AIDA’s advanced manufacturing systems.
“The training library is also an asset to AIDA,” McCarty said. “The videos will be used to train new associates and customers both in North American and at AIDA’s global divisions. AIDA has used T.A.M. for a variety of projects, many of which have won awards.
We will continue to choose T.A.M. for our multi-media needs because of the company’s dependability and knowledge of the newest equipment available, its level of service and its contribution of ideas.”
